Program Description

The HSF/ BB&T Charitable Foundation Scholarship Program is designed to provide financial resources to outstanding African American undergraduate students at a four year university. Scholarships are available on a competitive basis with a potential internship opportunity with BB&T.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Be of African American descent
  • Be a U.S. citizen, legal permanent resident or eligible Non-U.S. citizen
  • Have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  • Be a Junior enrolled full-time in a degree-seeking program at a U.S. accredited institution in the U.S., or Puerto Rico in the 2011-2012 academic year
  • Be majoring in a Business discipline which includes Accounting, Advertising, Business Administration, Economics, Fashion Merchandising, Finance, Hospitality Administration, Human Resource Management, Management, Marketing, Public Relations
  • Have a permanent address in: Georgia, North Carolina, or Washington D.C.
  • AND/OR attend an accredited institution in one of the ABOVE locations
  • Preference given to students attending full-time at one of the following institutions:
    • Johnson C. Smith University
    • North Carolina State University
    • University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill
    • University of North Carolina - Charlotte
    • Wake Forest University
  • Must apply for federal financial aid by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
