HSF Foundation Support

The Hispanic Scholarship Fund collaborates with foundations at every level in order to advance our urgent mission of reversing the pattern of Latino under-education. Our foundation collaborations support outreach and scholarship programs as well as providing general operating support, which is so critical for a not-for-profit organization.

At the national level, HSF has recently received large multi-year grants that will expand our services and programs around the country. Two of those grant alliances are the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the W. K. Kellogg Foundation. We also have received an award from the Lilly Endowment Inc., which supports the operation of our six regional offices along with a pilot of university alliances at the University of Texas at Austin and the University of Georgia for the attraction, retention and graduation of Latino students. Funding from the Lumina Foundation for Education supports a pilot peer counseling program for high school and community college students by HSF Scholar Chapter members at six universities in Georgia and Texas. A multi-year grant from the Goizueta Foundation provides an additional extensive scholarship program.

HSF also works with community foundations. The San Francisco Foundation has just awarded us a planning grant to identify schools and community-based organizations to partner with in order to deliver our Project Parental Engagement Program in the San Francisco Bay Area. A gift from The Community Foundation of Greater Atlanta, Inc. funds scholarships for students who are first in their families to attend college. United Way of Orange County supports our college access outreach work out of the Tiger Woods Learning Center in Anaheim, California. HSF also relies on many small private family foundations whose gifts of $5,000 to $25,000 provide for dozens of scholarships each year that are crucial for Latinos to be able to attend college.
