"When I came from Mexico to the United -States with my family we had very little other than hope and determination. I was one of those kids who depended almost entirely on scholarships to afford school, and I realized early on that the best possible education was my best option to get ahead. HSF was there for me when I needed it; HSF's scholarship and implicit encouragement meant a lot to me then, and continue to mean a lot to me now. Now that I am in a position to give back I want to help make a difference in the lives of others who face the same obstacles I did, with the hope that we will expand the appreciation of (and commitment to) education in our community.”
