What are the definitions of the final statuses of my application (i.e. "Submitted")?
IN PROGRESS - The online application was not submitted by the deadline (see NOTE above regarding application timelines). These applications are considered incomplete and are not considered for a potential scholarship award.
SUBMITTED - The online application has been submitted. Transcripts in "Pending Verification" status are reviewed during the "Application Processing" period (see NOTE above regarding application timelines).
COMPLETED - The online application has been successfully submitted and supporting documentation has been processed.
IN REVIEW – The completed online application is currently out for evaluation. An email from sar@hsf.net has been sent with instructions on how to electronically submit the Student Aid Report (SAR).
REVIEWED – The application has been evaluated and will be considered for a scholarship (see NOTE above regarding application timelines).
AWARDED – You have been selected to receive a scholarship. You should accept the award offered to you immediately. This is done by entering your name and SSN when prompted. Failure to accept the scholarship offer within two weeks of email notification will result in the cancellation of the scholarship.
ACKNOWLEDGED – The scholarship award has been successfully accepted. To receive your scholarship disbursement, you must submit verification of full-time enrollment after the start of your fall term. Click here to download the HSF Enrollment Verification Form. Ensure your preferred mailing address is current by logging into your HSF Student Account and clicking on "Profile". Failure to submit the required documentation will result in the cancellation of the scholarship.
CONFIRMED – We have received your enrollment verification and your check will be requested shortly.
PAYMENT PENDING - Your disbursement check is being processed. Please note, that it may take up to 4 to 6 weeks to disburse your check.
DISBURSED - Your award has been mailed out to the preferred mailing address indicated in your account.
NOT SELECTED – The online application you submitted was considered for a potential scholarship award, but you were not selected for that scholarship. Please know that you will receive an email notification for each application that you successfully submit.
If your application reflects another status, please log into your HSF Student Account and use the Message Center.
When will I know if I am selected to receive an award?
Notification dates vary for all programs (see NOTE above regarding application timelines).
Will I be notified if I do not receive an award?
Applicants who complete the application process will receive a notification (see Definition of Statuses above). All notifications are sent via email once the selection process has been completed (see NOTE above regarding application timelines).
Are scholarships renewable?
Most HSF scholarships are single year awards, while some of our programs are renewable. Since we will not know at the start of our application cycle what programs are to be renewed, we highly encourage students to re-apply for HSF scholarships each year as a new applicant.
If the scholarship you received is renewable, you will be contacted sometime during the spring term with renewal instructions. Be sure your contact information on your HSF profile is current.
How do I update my personal profile information in my online application?
You can click on the "Profile" link which is located on the upper left hand side of the page once you are logged into your HSF Student Account.
Here you will be able to update the following information:
- Email
- Password
- Address
- Phone Numbers
* Please note:
You cannot change/update responses to your Academic Profile (step 1) once it is submitted. Also, application responses cannot be changed/updated after they have been submitted in Steps 2 and 3.
If I am selected for a scholarship, when should I expect my disbursement?
Scholarship awards are contingent upon proof of full-time enrollment. See "Payment Pending" above. Click here to download the HSF Enrollment Verification Form. Verification of full-time enrollment must be submitted the start of your fall term. If your institution does not fill out third party verifications, you can request an official document from your schools Registrar's office.
