Program Description

The HSF/IDT Hope High School Scholarship Program is designed to assist graduating High School seniors of Hispanic heritage obtain a bachelor's degree. The award amount is up to $10,600 over four years. 

In order to qualify for this scholarship students must be either:

  1. A dependent of an IDT employee and reside in the U.S or Puerto Rico
    OR
  2. Reside in Maryland, Virginia, Washinton D.C., or metropolitan areas of New York City or Newark

To access this application dependents of IDT employees should contact their local IDT office to obtain a coupon code.

Students who are not dependents of an IDT employee will need to satisfy the requirements below and complete the General College Scholarship application to be considered for this program.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Be of Hispanic heritage 
  • Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident with a permanent resident card or passport stamped I-551 (not expired)
  • Be a High School Senior graduating in 2009
  • Must reside in the areas:  Maryland, Virginia, Washinton D.C., or the metropolitan areas of New York City or Newark
    OR 
    Be a  dependent of an IDT employee and reside in the U.S. or Puerto Rico
  • Have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  • Have plans to enroll FULL-TIME in a degree seeking program at a four year U.S. accredited institution in the U.S., Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands or Guam during the 2009-2010 academic year
  • Must apply for federal financial aid by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
