Program Description

The HSF/Peierls Rising Star Scholarship Program is a scholarship available to current high school seniors residing Texas or Colorado.  Awards are $2,500 for four-year university or $1,250 for those enrolling in a community college for the 2011-2012 academic year.  Selected students may receive up to $2,500 for four academic years for a possible total award of $10,000.

Eligibility Requirements

• Be of Hispanic heritage.
• Be a U.S. Citizen or a legal permanent resident with permanent resident card or passport stamped I-551 (not expired).
• Have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.50 and a maximum of 2.99 on a 4.00 scale.
• Must reside in:
  • Texas
  • Or Colorado
• Plan to be enrolled full-time at an undergraduate course of study at a two-year or four-year U.S. accredited institution during the 2011-2012 academic year.
• Must graduate from high school in 2010-2011 
• Must apply for federal financial aid by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
• Priority will be given to students who have participated in one of the following pre-collegiate programs:
