Electronic Arts (EA) Inc. was founded in 1982, in Redwood City, California, and is now a global leader in digital, active entertainment for Internet-connected consoles, mobile devices, and personal computers. In 2018, EA reported its net revenue as $5.15 billion, with over 300 million registered players around the world, including residents of the United States, Canada, and Japan. The company retains an extensive portfolio of high-quality video games, including critically acclaimed brands such as The Sims, Madden NFL, EA Sports, FIFA, BattleField, Need for Speed, Dragon Age, Plants vs. Zombies, and other well-known digital entertainment media.

The company is also committed to its philanthropic efforts, which emphasize diversity and inclusion, environmental sustainability, and outreach and community impact. One such initiative supports “developing the next generation of leaders by investing in science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM) education,” in partnership with EverFi, a digital learning platform that aims to build a socially-aware online environment that “empowers people and transform[s] communities." Together, the companies created Play to Learn, a 14-hour digital-education course designed to elucidate complex STEAM ideas. Since its creation, Play to Learn has reached over 8,000 students across 160 schools in North America.

EA has also formed a partnership with Girls Who Code, a nonprofit dedicated to building a pipeline of future female engineers in the US. The company also hosts coding camps at its headquarters, partners with Code.org to design accessible coding tutorials, and holds educational tours on its EA campuses. Its employees have contributed thousands of hours to EA’s philanthropic programs donated millions to charitable organizations and provide. EA has a matching program, which matches its employee donations, and also distributes grants among various charities.

EA partners with HSF in support of HSF’s STEM Summit. The STEM Summit is an annual Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math conference that gives the best and brightest HSF Scholars with an interest in one or more STEM fields, an inside track to career success, through a combination of mentoring, professional insights, and career guidance. The Scholars who attend the STEM Summit walk away with a nascent professional network, information on real-time internships jobs, and a chance to succeed at the highest levels, which, in turn, positions them to mentor the generations to come.
