College Board is a nonprofit organization with the mission to “connect students to college success and opportunity.” The organization created and manages the SAT, and was instrumental in the development of the Advanced Placement (AP) Program, which allows high school students to take on college-level work, and earn college credit. Its other programs and education tools include the PSAT (Pre-SAT); ACCUPLACER, which assesses reading, math, and writing skills; SpringBoard, a 6-12 grade English language arts and math curriculum; and CLEP (College Level Examination Program), a tool designed to help students gain college credit for existing knowledge and eliminate redundant coursework.

College Board also engages in research and advocacy for students, educators, and schools. Toward these efforts, College Board partners with researchers and policymakers to provide data for evidence-based inquiry and decision-making, in areas such as academic preparation, career readiness, college access, admissions, affordability, collegiate outcomes, and education policy.

In keeping with its commitment to expand student access to higher education, College Board partners with HSF by leveraging its nationwide student database. Using SAT and AP exam scores, College Board helps HSF locate top-performing, rising Latino high school juniors and seniors, who may be eligible for HSF programs and scholarships, so they can be informed and recruited as potential applicants.

In recognition of its support, College Board was named Education Partner of the Year at HSF’s annual Leaders in Education Awards gala, in 2018. The award is conferred on a strategic partner that exemplifies HSF’s goals and values, not least through its extraordinary, proactive, and abiding support of HSF’s scholarships, programs, and services.
