HSF TO HOLD ANNUAL MEDIA & ENTERTAINMENT SUMMIT INTRODUCING SCHOLARS TO CAREERS IN INDUSTRY

Nov 14, 2019

Los Angeles (November 14, 2019) – The Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF), the nation’s largest nonprofit organization supporting Hispanic American higher education, in partnership with Presenting Sponsors WarnerMedia LLC and The Walt Disney Company, will host its 2019 Media & Entertainment Summit for HSF Scholars, November 14-17, 2019, at Loews Hollywood Hotel, in Los Angeles, California.

The Media & Entertainment Summit is an annual conference that exposes HSF Scholars interested in the field, to diverse career opportunities and specialized knowledge gleaned from industry insiders. The rising college juniors and seniors who are chosen to attend this program, from a highly competitive pool of current HSF Scholars, spend several days learning about the industry, exploring career options, and meeting and networking with distinguished media and entertainment professionals, including HSF Alumni.

“We are appreciate the continued support we have from WarnerMedia and The Walt Disney Company, who share our vision of opening doors to a new wave of college graduates, who might otherwise miss out on significant career opportunities, simply due to lack of exposure,” said Fidel A. Vargas, President & CEO of the Hispanic Scholarship fund. “Hispanic Americans have historically been underrepresented in media and entertainment, and our insightful partners understand, as we do, that this means missed opportunities for the industry, and for its audiences in the US, and around the globe. We are excited to introduce our Scholars to the industry, and the industry to our Scholars!”

In addition to offering HSF Scholars the opportunity to learn from leaders in the industry, about emerging trends and careers, the Media & Entertainment Summit features a Career Expo, that focuses on professional development.

HSF Alumni, Advisory Council members, and staff, assist Scholars with reviews of their resumes and LinkedIn profiles, and conduct mock interviews. Scholars are able to put their newly-acquired skills to work, the same day, in one-on-one interviews with industry recruiters, for internships and full-time jobs, with HSF Corporate Partners.
