HSF CELEBRATES SCHOLARS AND THEIR FAMILIES WITH THE HELP OF WELLS FARGO

Jul 15, 2019

Los Angeles (July 15, 2019) – The Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF), the nation’s largest nonprofit organization supporting Hispanic American higher education, in partnership with Wells Fargo & Company, will honor the top Latino students from throughout the country that have earned the HSF Scholar designation—and their families—at nationwide Scholar Celebrations, throughout the summer.

Scholar Celebrations are intimate receptions held in major cities throughout the US, where HSF not only applauds this year’s HSF Scholars, but also extends a special welcome to the HSF familia, to those who are new. The events for the 2019 Scholar Celebration Series will kick off in Washington, DC, on Tuesday, July 16th, and will then be hosted in Miami, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Austin, and Dallas. Wells Fargo is
the National Presenting Sponsor of the series—supporting all six celebrations across the country.

“Wells Fargo is proud to celebrate HSF Scholars and their families, and through these events, help introduce them to the various opportunities available to them, via the HSF network,” said Walter Dolhare, Managing Director and Co-President, Wells Fargo Securities, LLC, and Member of HSF Board of Directors. "We believe in giving students the best opportunities possible, and through our longstanding partnership with HSF, we continue our advocacy for education and commitment to the Hispanic community.”

The gatherings enable Scholars to meet and network with HSF Alumni, fellow HSF Scholars, local Advisory Council members, HSF staff, and other supporters. Programs feature keynote speakers, including current HSF Scholars (one female Scholar and one male Scholar) who share their thoughts about what being a part of HSF, and having access to HSF Scholar Support Services, means to them. Scholar Support Services are available to all HSF Scholars, and include mentoring, leadership development, career services, knowledge building, and wellness guidance—financial, physical, and emotional—to help Scholars succeed in college and beyond.

"HSF Scholar Celebrations allow us to send off the incoming class of HSF Scholars, as they prepare for the start of the fall term in colleges and universities around the nation. We celebrate them and their families, and for those who are new, give them a glimpse of what it’s like to be a member of HSF’s family and our extensive academic and professional network," said Fidel A. Vargas, President & CEO, Hispanic Scholarship Fund. “We realize just how much the students and their parents have sacrificed to see this moment, and know that this celebration is the first of many milestones that will occur, in the lifetime of benefits that come with being an HSF Scholar.”
