As part of its commitment to the communities it serves, Bank of America supports nonprofit organizations, with a focus on “revitalizing neighborhoods, educating the workforce for 21st century jobs, and addressing basic needs, such as hunger and homelessness.” The company also recently announced a $40 million commitment to connect 100,000 teens and young adults to the skills and employment experiences needed for 21st-century jobs. The new effort will incorporate grants, summer jobs, internship programs, and more, to support skills development programs and first-time employment opportunities, and to advance diverse hiring.
To promote diversity internally, the company has also established 12 employee networks, including the Hispanic/Latino Organization for Leadership and Advancement (HOLA). HOLA was named the top employee resource group (ERG) by the US Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) in its ERG Corporate Challenge of 2014, for its commitment to professional development, fundraising plans targeting hunger in Hispanic communities, and work with bilingual schools.
Bank of America has been an HSF partner since 2012, providing funding for scholarships that have helped students pay for tuition, books, and other education-related expenses. This year, Bank of America is also a Presenting Sponsor of HSF’s inaugural Career Symposium, an annual conference that introduces top HSF Scholars to current internship and full-time employment opportunities with HSF’s corporate partners.
