HISPANIC SCHOLARSHIP FUND ATLANTA COLLEGE CAMP TO HELP STUDENTS AND FAMILIES PREPARE FOR COLLEGE

Oct 17, 2019

LOS ANGELES, CA, October 16– The Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF), the nation’s largest nonprofit organization supporting Hispanic American higher education, in partnership with Wells Fargo & Company (Wells Fargo) and Georgia State University (GSU), will be hosting a College Camp informational workshop, for middle and high school students and their families, on the GSU campus in Atlanta, Georgia, on Saturday, October 19, 2019, marking the third year the program has been hosted at the venue.

College Camp is a free, bilingual, half-day, college preparation gathering, designed to help middle and high school students and their parents, prepare, plan, and pay for college. The Atlanta program marks the second in the 2019-2020 College Camp series of workshops, in a total of six cities, around the US. Topics include navigating the college application process, choosing a college that's the right fit, writing a personal statement, and researching financial aid and scholarship opportunities.

“HSF is thrilled to be able to host the College Camp in Atlanta, and provide crucial information to local students and their families, on what it takes to prepare for a college track. The program offers participants a chance to learn, ask questions, and interact with a variety of experts, at a single location, in a collegiate setting,” said Fidel A. Vargas, President & CEO, Hispanic Scholarship Fund. “Thanks to the continuing and generous support of Wells Fargo and Georgia State University, we will once again have the opportunity to transform lives in the region, through this sharing of knowledge and resources!”

Participating students are grouped by grade level, in sessions tailored to their needs, while parents meet according to language preference—in Spanish or English. All participants have the opportunity to interact with HSF Scholars, Alumni, staff, and other supporters from local communities, who include business leaders and educators.
