HISPANIC SCHOLARSHIP FUND TO REPRISE ANNUAL CONFERENCE FOR SCHOLARS INTERESTED IN CAREERS IN FINANCE

Oct 07, 2019

Los Angeles (October 1, 2019) – The Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF), the nation’s largest nonprofit organization supporting Hispanic American higher education, in partnership with Presenting Sponsor Wells Fargo & Company, and Supporting Sponsors, Boston Consulting Group and Nationwide Insurance, as well as Friends of HSF Sponsors, Altria Group, Inc.; Anheuser-Busch Cos. Inc. and Distributors; Bank of America Corporation; Goldman Sachs & Co.; and PNC Bank, is slated to host its 2019 Finance Conference for HSF Scholars, October 3-6, at the Hilton Midtown, in New York, New York.

The annual HSF Finance Conference exposes a select group of HSF Scholars who are interested in the field and compete for the opportunity to attend—to specialized information from industry insiders, and career opportunities in diverse professions, including commercial banking, investment banking, asset management, private equity, and other finance-related fields.

“We are thrilled to have the support of Wells Fargo and so many other prestigious companies, in providing a life-changing opportunity for the Scholars chosen to attend,” said Fidel A. Vargas, President & CEO of the Hispanic Scholarship Fund. “Hispanic Americans have been woefully underrepresented in finance. So this is a chance to introduce a group of exceptional students to a possibility that they might not have even considered, simply for lack of exposure. I was once in their shoes, but had mentors who introduced me to finance, giving me entrée into what became my career.  That’s our goal with this conference—to open doors!”

Each fall, HSF identifies and invites a group of rising, college juniors and seniors from a highly competitive pool of current HSF Scholars, to attend. Attendees have an opportunity to learn about the industry, explore career possibilities, and meet and network with distinguished professionals in finance, including HSF Alumni.
