HISPANIC SCHOLARSHIP FUND’S NY COLLEGE CAMP TO HELP STUDENTS PREPARE, PLAN, AND PAY FOR COLLEGE

Sep 25, 2019

LOS ANGELES, CA, September 25– The Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF), the nation’s largest nonprofit organization supporting Hispanic American higher education, in partnership with Wells Fargo & Company (Wells Fargo) and New York University (NYU), will be hosting a College Camp informational workshop, for middle and high school students and their families, on the NYU campus in New York City, on Saturday, September 28, 2019, marking the fourth year that the program has been hosted at the venue.

College Camp is a free, bilingual, half-day, college preparation gathering, designed to help middle and high school students and their families, prepare, plan, and pay for college. The New York program kicks off the 2019-2020 College Camp series of workshops, to be held in five additional cities around the US. Topics include navigating the college application process, choosing a college that's the right fit, writing a personal statement, and researching financial aid and scholarship opportunities.

“The upcoming College Camp at NYU, will open doors to higher education for hundreds of families living in the New York area, many who will be receiving the information we provide, for the first time in their lives,” said Fidel A. Vargas, President & CEO, Hispanic Scholarship Fund. “Thanks to the continuing and generous support of Wells Fargo and New York University, we will once again have the opportunity to transform lives in the region, by sharing vital information and resources!”

Participating students are grouped by grade level, in sessions tailored to their needs, while parents meet according to language preference—in Spanish or English. All participants have the opportunity to interact with HSF Scholars, Alumni, staff, and other supporters from local communities, who include business leaders and educators.
