LOS ANGELES (November 28, 2016) The Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF), the nation’s largest nonprofit organization supporting Hispanic American higher education, announced today the addition of Ricardo DeLeon to its executive staff as the Chief Operating Officer.

Prior to joining HSF, Mr. DeLeon was the Vice President and Corporate Controller of the Duracell Company, where he managed core finance and accounting structures for the $2.5B global company. Prior to that, Mr. DeLeon spent 25 years at Procter & Gamble (P&G), where he held multiple senior-level positions in finance, was President of the Hispanic Finance Network for several years, and was an active member of P&G’s Corporate Hispanic Leadership Team.

In addition to his work in finance, Mr. DeLeon has served on a number of public and private sector boards, including Su Casa Hispanic Center, Catholic Charities of Southwest Ohio, National Society of Hispanic MBA Corporate Advisory Board, and the Association of Latino Princeton Alumni.

“I am a first-generation college graduate and the son of migrant workers, so I understand on an intensely personal level what a difference an advanced education can make in someone’s life, as well as the impact their advancement often has on their families, friends, and community,” said Mr. DeLeon. I’m excited about joining the team and look forward to contributing to the continued growth of HSF.”

As HSF’s Chief Operating Officer and a key member of the executive team, Mr. DeLeon will be responsible for overseeing the execution of the organization’s strategy and ongoing day-to-day operations.

“Ricardo is an outstanding leader with a passion for our mission. He has a long track record of building great teams and delivering strong results at Procter & Gamble and throughout his career," said Fidel Vargas, President & CEO of HSF. "I'm proud to have him join our team.”

“I am pleased that Ricardo has been selected as our new COO,” said Lisa Garcia Quiroz, Senior Vice President, Time Warner, Inc & Chief Diversity Officer and President of the Time Warner Foundation, who is also the Chair of HSF’s Board of Directors. “His deep commitment to our mission, coupled with his prodigious skills, drive, and expertise, are exactly what we need for this role. We are fortunate to bring talent of his stature to our organization.”

Mr. DeLeon is a graduate of Princeton University, where he earned his AB in Biology. He later went on to receive his MBA from Washington University in St. Louis.
