HSF TO HOLD 2019 STEM SUMMIT IN SILICON VALLEY, TO ENCOURAGE TOP SCHOLARS INTERESTED IN STEM FIELDS

Sep 09, 2019

Los Angeles (September 4, 2019) – The Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF), the nation’s largest nonprofit organization supporting Hispanic American higher education, in partnership with sponsors Altria Group, Inc.; Bank of America Corporation; Boston Consulting Group; and Exxon Mobil Foundation, as well as additional support from Friends of HSF Anheuser-Busch Cos. Inc. and  Distributors, EA (Electronic Arts Inc.), Ford Motor Company, Honda, Macy's Corporate Services Inc., and Toyota Motor Sales USA, is hosting its 2019 STEM Summit, to take place in San Jose, California, September 5-8.

Each year, HSF’s STEM Summit convenes 100 of the organization’s top Scholars who are entering their junior or senior year of college, and interested in pursuing a career in science, technology, engineering, and/or math. The conference offers them an inside track to success, through a combination of mentoring, professional insights, and career guidance from a host of leading STEM professionals.

This four-day event features a Career Expo, which offers Scholars the opportunity to meet with recruiters from HSF corporate partners, to interview for internships and full-time jobs, and to receive one-on-one career coaching from HSF Alumni and other top professionals, on a range of topics, from career advice to resume and LinkedIn profile review, and interview preparation. Scholars leave the program with invaluable information on how to navigate the transition from education to career, and what it takes to succeed in various STEM fields.

"The STEM Summit is a unique opportunity for HSF Scholars interested in one or more STEM fields, to interact with people who have already made their mark in these fields, and who are eager to share their wisdom and pivotal experiences with students who will be following in their footsteps," says Fidel A. Vargas, President & CEO, of the Hispanic Scholarship Fund. “It’s thrilling to realize that any one of the participating young men and women could be the developer of the next big tech product, or the founder of a Silicon Valley startup, that could change our nation and the world, for the better. ”
